Man killed in Delhi firing

New Delhi, Sep 7 (IANS): One person was killed and another critically injured when two motorcycle-borne assailants shot at them from close range in Delhi's Samaypur Badli area, police said on Monday.

According to police, Vipin, 18, and his cousin Ravinder, 24, were shot around 1.30 p.m. on Sunday in the area's MCD colony.

The two men ran a meat shop.

"The assailants, acquaintances of the two, opened fire. Vipin, who took a bullet in the chest, collapsed while Ravinder was injured in the abdomen," a police officer said.

They fled before residents and passersby could give a chase. Both youth were rushed to hospital where doctors said Vipin's condition was critical. He succumbed to injuries later in the day," he added.

Police said a case of attempt to murder, registered earlier on Sunday, has now been converted to murder.

The accused have been identified.
