Panaji, Mar 18: Pen is mightier than the sword, so goes the saying.

But the Goa journalists put down their pens for a while and proved their might with the bat and the ball in a cricket tournament held for their community.

It was the first All Goa Inter-press Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament, which was jointly organized by the Goa Tennis Ball Cricket Association and the Sports Journalists' Association of Goa.

Altogether 7 teams participated in the tournament. They were Herald, Sunaparant, Gomantak, The Navhind Times, Goa Doot, Tarun Bharat and the electronic media. The matches were played on the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) grounds at Campal-Panaji.

In the finals, Gomantak (Marathi newspaper), having defeated Herald, emerged winners.
