Margao, Mar 17: Although South Goa Lok Sabha member Churchill Alemao has not formally joined newly-formed 'Save Goa Democratic Party’, he on Friday said he would hold a workers' convention in North Goa, either in Panaji or Mapusa, this to strengthen the party.

Addressing a press conference in a city hotel here, he reiterated that he would leave the Congress party at the right time and join SGDP at once.

Rumours were making rounds that he would join the United Goans Democratic Party rather than SGDP. However, when asked about, he said he was firm on his decision to Join SGDP and nobody could stop him.

"I want new faces in my party, and mostly they will be youth. This is because the youth have the talent and I want their talent in Goan oolitics to take it in the proper direction," he said further.

Meanwhile UGDP vice president advocate Radharao Gracias has declared that the party would contest in 13 constituencies from Salcette, Mormugao and Quepem Talukas.

He also added that aspirants from Calangute, Mapusa, St Cruz, Mayem, Shivolim, Sant Adrem and Kumbarjuvem have shown keen interest to fight the election on UGDP ticket and have applied for it.
