Puttur, Oct 24: Alva's College, Moodbidri, has won the overall championship at "Lalith 2006," a university level inter-collegiate fine arts fest organised by St Philomena College here recently.

According to a press release by HOD of Botany and staff coordinator of the event Prasanna Rai, as many as 34 teams from various colleges took part.

Some of the winners include Govindadas College, Suratkal in painting competition, SDM College, Ujire, in cartooning, NSAM First Grade College in rangoli competition and clay modelling and Alva's College in poster making and collage.

Registrar of Mangalore University Sunder Naik inaugurated the event. Artist Punchithaya was the guest of honour at the valedictory programme.

St Philomena College Principal F X Gomes was present on the occasion.
