Udupi, Oct 4: A 16-year-old girl died of electrocution at Janatha Colony near Saibarkatte here on Tuesday October 3 afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Kamakshi (16).  She was the daughter of the late Ramaswamy and Saroja couple of Saibarkatte.  They were labourers in a quarry at Saibarkatte.

On Tuesday afternoon, Kamakshi had come out from her house to wash vessels when the tragedy occurred.  As she was washing vessels, a cashew tree fell on a livewire.  As a result, the wire which got cut off from the electric pole fell down.  However, before it touched the ground, it caressed Kamakshi owing to which she was electrocuted on the spot.

Brahmavar police have registered a case in this regard.
