Mangalore, Oct 3: The city's Bharath Sevadal unit observed Gandhi Jayanti on Monday October 2 at Town Hall here.
Earlier in the day, a procession was taken from the Balmatta Training Institute to Town Hall by children of Sevadal. Freedom fighter Shambhu Shetty was honoured on the occasion.
MLA N Yogish Bhat, deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao, Sevadal district president S Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, member Harikrishna Punaroor and Prabhakar Joshi honoured the Mahatma by garlanding his statue at Rajaji Park in front of the Town Hall.
Among those present were Kannada and culture department assistant director H C Rangappa and Bharath Sevadal Beltangady taluk president Alphonse Franco.
