Puttur, Oct 2: Youth Congress organized cleanliness drive in the government hospital premises here on Monday October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

The party activists who gathered in the hospital premises plucked weeds, trimmed grass and cleansed the entire premises.  Some of them even swept the compound.  The drive was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by senior Congress leader Tamban.  Youth Congress president Bondala Jagannath Shetty garlanded the photo of Mahatma Gandhiji and launched the programme officially.

Speaking on the occasion he said that similar programme will be held in 15 centres of the district. "This is a symbolic drive wherein we want to pass on the message that we have to take lead also in cleaning the society while walking in the footprints of Mahatma Gandhiji," he added.

Former block Congress president N Sudhakar Shetty, present president Kavu Hemanath Shetty, DCC members Jeevan Bhandari, Nirmal Kumar Jain, Dolphy Rego, Praveen Kumar, Durgaprasad Rai Kumbra etc were present on the occasion.
