Mangalore, Sep 30: The Founder’s Day lecture at the Mangalore University here was delivered by R Rajamani, managing director, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), on Friday September 29.

Speaking on the occasion he stressed the need for a closer interaction between universities and industries to achieve better output results. Universities are developing to be educational centres and are no longer deemed to be just ivory towers. Interaction with industries helps universities to develop innovative skills and a better understanding to manage projects. Both industry and university should consider whether a partnership would be apt within their overall research and innovation strategy.

Universities should take steps to dedicate time and resources in the jobs and research projects, he added.
