Mangalore, Sep 30: Dhrithi Foundation in association with Prerana Pratibha Poshak will promote meritorious students from poor background, said Captain Anand of Prerana, while addressing a press conference here on Friday September 29.

Measures in this regard include providing scholarships to poor students at a programme to be held at Karnataka Bank Employees Hall in Bejai here on Sunday October 1. As many as 84 students from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasargod districts who are pursuing various courses will be promoted.

Prerna Pratibha Poshak has already provided Rs 2 crore worth of scholarships to about 3000 students in 20 districts, he said.

The organisation has received a total of 347 applications from DK, Udupi, Chikmagalur, Hassan and Kasargod districts, out of which 84 have been selected. The selected candidates will receive a sum of Rs 1,49,000.

Among those present at the press meet were Dhrithi Foundation secretary Dr Srinivas Kakkilaya and Harish Pejawar.
