Suratkal, Sep 18: A person from Mandya who had come to the city to attend a seminar drowned at Suratkal beach here on Sunday September 17 evening.

The drowned has been identified as Shivprakash (28), a resident of Mandya.  He had come to the city to participate in a seminar organized by Bangalore-based Kanva Group of Companies for which he was working for. In the evening all 120 of them went for a stroll at Suratkal beach. Despite the warning, some of them had got down into the waters for swimming. 

Shivprakash along with one of his friends Narayanaswami had got into the waters but before they could come back, mighty waves washed them away.  However, the locals managed to rescue Narayanaswami.  But Shivprakash was engulfed by ravaging sea.  His body was found later at Kodikal.

The Panambur police have registered a case in this regard.
