Mangalore, Aug 30: A sum of Rs 14 lac has been reserved for the development of sports in the district, informed zilla panchayat president Mamata D S Gatti, after inaugurating the Dasara sports and rural sports meet at Mangala stadium here on Tuesday August 29.
The sports meet was organised by the Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat in collaboration with the department of Youth Service and Sports and Uthsahi Yuvasaka Vrunda, Padavu-Bikarnakatte.
Gatti also disclosed that the ZP will provide 25 district youth boards with sports equipment worth Rs 3,000 each and will aid several schools in construction of sports stadiums.
Among those present were taluk panchayat president Gokuldas Shetty and taluk panchayat member Vinod Kumar Bolur.
