Ford India logs 3 percent sales growth in December


Chennai, Jan 1 (IANS): Ford India, a subsidiary of American automobile major Ford Motor Company, closed December 2013 with three percent sales growth over the comparable period of the previous year, the company said Wednesday.

In a statement, Ford India said it sustained sales momentum in 2013 with a total sales of 11,209 units last month.

"Despite difficult economic and business environment, 2013 has been a remarkable and rewarding year for Ford in India," Vinay Piparsania, executive director of Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford India was quoted as saying in the statement.

According to Ford India, the company closed the calendar year 2013 with a total sales of 119,715 units.

Last year, Ford India launched the Figo Celebration edition, the Endeavour Alterrain edition and the Ford EcoSport.

For the full year, a total of 39,284 vehicles were exported, up 29 percent from 2012.

Ford exports vehicles from India to over 40 destinations, including South Africa, Mexico, Australia, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Taiwan.
