Railways freight traffic up 4.72 percent in April-November


New Delhi, Dec 11 (IANS): Indian Railways carried 677.56 million tonnes of revenue earning freight traffic during April-November 2013, registering an increase of 4.72 percent compared to the corresponding period last year, an official release said here Wednesday.

The freight carried shows an increase of 30.55 million tonnes over the freight traffic of 647.01 million tonnes actually carried during the corresponding period last year.

During November 2013, the revenue earning freight traffic carried by Indian Railways was 84.31 million tonnes. This is an increase of 2.56 million tonnes over the actual freight traffic of 81.75 million tonnes carried by the Indian Railways during the same period last year, showing an increase of 3.13 per cent.
