Night-long rains hits life in Agra

Agra, Oct 12 (IANS): A night-long heavy downpour which continued into Saturday morning badly disrupted life in the Taj city of Agra, dampening the festival fervour.

Several road junctions were under water, disrupting traffic and cutting off newly developed colonies in Agra, officials and residents said.

"It's just as well that schools are closed for the holidays," said Vijay Nagar resident Rajeev Gupta.

Neighbouring Vrindavan and Mathura as well as Firozabad also received rains through Friday night.

The Ramlila ground near the Agra Fort is flooded. The effigies of Ravana and others, filled with crackers, have got wet.
