Look into properties acquired by Mulayam's wife, CBI to IT

New Delhi, Oct 9 (IANS): The CBI has written to the Income Tax Department to look into "acquisition of certain properties" by Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav's wife Sadhna in her son Prateek's name.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) last month closed preliminary inquiry case against Mulayam Singh and his family members in the disproportionate assets case, citing lack of credible evidence.

Sources said the CBI noticed "acquisition of certain properties" by Sadhna in the name of Prateek during its preliminary inquiry into the disproportionate assets case.

"We have forwarded the information to the IT Department for necessary action," an official of the agency told IANS.

The agency registered a preliminary inquiry March 5, 2007, against Mulayam Singh, his sons Akhilesh and Prateek, and Akhilesh's wife Dimple Yadav, following a March 1, 2007, Supreme Court order on a petition filed in November 2005.
