Udupi, Jan 17: It seems that it will be wrong to say that only those who are depressed and people who go through a barrage of problems resort to suicide.  These days suicide has not remained the domain of only a few but more and more seem to be finding solace in committing suicide.  At times some end their life over reasons, which seem to be very silly and frivolous.  Even age has no more been a barrier in this regard.

One best example for this growing trend of suicide is the suicide of one Shraddha Shetty (11), a VI standard student at Little Rock Indian School at Chantar near Brahmavar here.  Shraddha, daughter of Devraj Shetty, a businessman of Mahalakshminagar at Ambagilu here took the extreme step of hanging herself from the roof of her room on Sunday January 15 morning.

Shraddha is said to have been a short-tempered child and used to get angry even over insignificant issues.  On Sunday morning too, she had some argument at home.  Thereafter, she went into her room and locked the door behind her.  This was a usual happening since she used to pick up quarrels for one or the other reason.

But on Sunday when she did not come out of her room for long, the parents and family members called her.  But there was no response from inside her room.  So they broke the door and to their utter shock found Shraddha hanging from the roof.

The Udupi police have registered a case in this regard.
