Panaji, Jan 14: A 40-year old woman was raped by a gang of masked men who broke in and robbed a house in South Goa on Wednesday.

The gang also sat for about four hours coolly polishing off the liquor in the house with their victims bound and gagged.

Police said the woman, who worked as a maid in a residence in Arossim, was confined along with her 82-year old employer, while the gang of four men ransacked the house for valuables late Wednesday night. Two of the masked robbers later raped the woman. After the criminals had left, the victim managed to free herself and asked neighbours for help. Police suspect the involvement of a local gang. The owner of the house had recently sold a boat and the criminals persistently questioned the woman about this, sources said.
