Bangalore, Jan 9: Four men armed with a knife assaulted a software engineer from the U.S. and robbed him of Rs. 9,000 in cash and a mobile phone worth Rs. 11,000 in Mahadevapura police station limits in the early hours of Sunday.

According to the police, the victim, Courtney (25), has come to India as part of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrations and is visiting his friend near Whitefield in the city.

Courtney, who had dinner at a hotel in Ashoknagar police station limits, took an autorickshaw to return to Whitefield.

On his way back, the four men, who were in a car, accosted him near Rajapalya near Hoodi and assaulted him with a knife before robbing him of the phone and cash, the police said.

Mahadevapura Police have registered a case. Investigation is on.
