Udupi, Jan 6: The Udupi Press Club and office of the District Working Journalist Association was inaugurated by V Venkatesh, president State Working Journalist Association president in the premises of Government College (Board High School) here.

Speaking on the occasion he said that the state government has increased the funds for Journalists Welfare Fund to Rs 50,000.

MLA K Raghupati Bhat who played an important role in the setting up of office for Working Journalists Union, said that he would put in all efforts to provide an own office for the union.   "So also information minister Shivram has consented to give a new vehicle for the use of journalists," he added.

Dinesh Kini, president, district Working Journalists Union, presided over the function.  State accreditation committee member Anand Shetty too was present on the occasion.

Sushilendra Kudupadi welcomed the gathering while Kiran Manjanbail proposed the vote of thanks.  Shashidhar Mastibail compered the programme.
