Udupi, Dec 25: A grand Christmas eve celebration was organized at Milagres Cathedral Kallianpur here on Monday December 24 at 11.30 pm, followed by Mass at midnight.
The carol singing started at 11.30 pm as a preparation to the Mass and welcome to the midnight celebration.
Udupi diocese Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo offered the first Christmas eve mass at Milagres Cathedral. Fr Stany B Lobo, rector, Milagres Cathedral, Fr Agnelo D'Souza of Pilar Fathers, Kallianpur, Fr Ivan Rodrigues, principal, Milagres PU College and Fr Canute Barboza were present.
In his message, the bishop gave a call to follow the path of Jesus, and have trust and faith. After the Mass a brief cultural programme was organized by the Church ICYM and YCS members.
Cake was auctioned for Rs 10,700. Later housie-housie game was conducted for the gathering.
Star preparation competition prizes was distributed by the bishop to the winners.
A large number of devotees witnessed the Christmas Eve celebration.
