Puttur: Scooter rider succumbs to injuries after hit-and-run

Puttur, Oct 7: A scooter rider who was critically injured after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near Karpadi temple gate in Aryapu village on the Mani-Mysuru Highway succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Mangaluru on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Sundar Acharya, a resident of Mularu in Kuriya.

Sundar was travelling on his scooter when an unidentified vehicle collided with him near the Karpadi temple gate. He sustained serious injuries and was shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru for treatment.

However, he died on Tuesday after failing to respond to treatment. The vehicle involved in the accident has not yet been traced.

A case had been registered at the Puttur Rural police station in connection with the incident.

Sundar, who was engaged in carpentry work, is survived by his wife and two sons.
