Chennai, Oct 5: The makers of director Nelson Dilipkumar's much-awaited action entertainer ‘Jailer 2’, starring Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead, on Monday released the gripping, action-packed trailer of the film, delighting fans and film buffs.

Sun Pictures, which is producing the film, shared the trailer on its social media handles with the message: "Tiger Muthuvel Pandian is back, and the hunt is ON! #Jailer2 Trailer is out now!"

The trailer opens with actor Suraj Venjaramoodu's character interrogating a person held hostage. He asks, "In these two months, you must have learnt something about the person who did this, right?" The hostage replies, "Not just me, even you won't be able to find him."

The trailer then shows that Suraj Venjaramoodu's character and several other villains are trying to figure out who is behind a series of developments.

Rajinikanth subsequently makes his appearance as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian.

At one point, a weary Suraj Venjaramoodu is seen asking his accomplices, "Have you managed to find him or not?" This initially suggests that Tiger Muthuvel Pandian may have gone into hiding. However, the trailer soon reveals that he has deliberately gone off the radar by disguising himself as a driver.

Muthuvel Pandian has chosen to lie low in order to determine whether the chain of command among the villains extends beyond those he already knows.

The trailer also reveals that Muthuvel Pandian has deployed snipers to attack his enemies. A character played by S J Suryah says that they too can employ snipers.

An interesting exchange is also seen between the characters played by Rajinikanth and Vidya Balan. When she asks him whether he wants tea or coffee, he politely declines. She responds, "The choice is between tea or coffee. It is not between whether to drink or not."

At another point, a person warns Muthuvel Pandian about the dreaded "Kalpaks", saying they will not allow anyone to live. Muthuvel Pandian smiles and replies, "Oh dear, I didn't know. Shall we see?"

He later directly warns the Kalpaks, listing the methods used by thugs to spread fear among their victims. "All this is the style employed in the time of your father. Now, getting all your enemies to one place and bombing that place is what is the present trend," he says.

‘Jailer 2’ is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on October 15 this year.

The makers had earlier released a release-date announcement teaser in which actor Vinayakan was seen issuing a threat while laughing. "You can't be at peace after killing me. There's a big world behind me, Jailer! This is a huge network. You won't know who is coming (for you), when and how. Your life will turn into hell," he says.

The teaser then showed Rajinikanth making a stylish entry, while also offering glimpses of the other characters in the film.

The sequel has generated considerable expectations among fans and the general public since the project was first announced.

In April this year, the makers announced that shooting for the film had been completed. They also shared pictures from a cake-cutting ceremony held to mark the completion of filming.
