Goa, Sep 20: Despite awareness programmes and door-to-door garbage collection initiatives, indiscriminate dumping of waste continues to pose a serious problem in Goa.
The issue has come to the fore in Seraulim, along the road leading to the popular Colva Beach, where garbage has been openly dumped along the roadside.
The absence of adequate street lighting in the area has reportedly made it easier for people to dispose of waste under the cover of darkness.
The roadside dumping not only affects the cleanliness of the area but also raises concerns over hygiene and the surroundings of one of Goa’s well-known tourist destinations.
The situation highlights the need for effective monitoring and enforcement, along with proper waste disposal practices, to prevent roadsides from turning into dumping grounds despite existing garbage collection measures.
