Mumbai, Sep 15: National Award-winning actress Manasi Parekh has opened up about her lively and talkative character in the recently released streaming show ‘Chumbak’, currently airing on Netflix.
Interacting with reporters during promotional events in Mumbai's BKC area alongside co-stars Sumeet Raghavan, Sandeepa Dhar, Sumeet Vyas, Deven Bhojani, and Neena Gupta, Parekh discussed the dynamics of her role and her experience working on the project.

Character Dynamics and Challenges
Describing her on-screen persona, Parekh noted that the character is a stark contrast to her real self. “My character in the show speaks a lot. There are people like that in real life who don’t stop once they start speaking, and they don’t give other people a chance to speak. The character is very different from me as a person,” she shared.
She expressed particular fondness for her character's on-screen equation with her husband, played by Sumeet Vyas, highlighting the humorous contrast where her endless chatter meets his ability to summarize everything in a single line. Acknowledging the physical and mental toll of playing such an energetic role, she admitted, “It did take a lot of energy. But that's the thing. Atish bhai is the source of our energy. He's a genius.”
Praise for the Writing and Direction
Parekh credited the show’s creator for making the demanding role manageable through exceptional writing and clear character definition on paper.
“I think all of us are so lucky that we are with a writer-director who is such a great maker, that he has already kept our characters on paper so well, that it becomes very easy for an actor to bring it to life. Otherwise, sometimes what happens is, if the character is not written very well, then the actor also gets a lot of pressure. But here, everything is so clear that you literally just have to follow it. So, that was an experience for me. ‘Chumbak’ has been amazing,” she added.
‘Chumbak’ is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
