Mangaluru: St Lawrence School, Bondel shines in volleyball, cultural competitions

Mangaluru, Sep 12: St Lawrence English Medium School, Bondel, has once again brought laurels to the institution by achieving remarkable success in sports and cultural competitions.

The school’s under-14 boys’ volleyball team and high school boys’ volleyball team emerged victorious in the Mangaluru north taluk-level volleyball tournament, securing the first place and qualifying for the district-level competition. The matches were organised by the education department of Mangaluru North Taluk in collaboration with English Medium High School, Gandhinagar, at Mangala Stadium, Mangaluru.

The individual performances of the young players were also recognised. In the under-14 category, Thanisk R was adjudged best attacker, while M Irfan received the best setter award. In the high school category, Gagan N was named best attacker, and Ashik was adjudged best setter.

The school’s sporting achievements were complemented by outstanding performances in the Padwa Vibrance 2026 variety competition. The school quiz team secured the first prize in the quiz competition, while the school dance team won the second prize in the dance competition.

The teams were guided and trained by Tr Helen Menezes, whose dedicated efforts contributed significantly to their success. Teacher Yogesh Kumar and teacher Praveen Nadar, education instructors of the institution, also played an important role in supporting and encouraging the students in their sporting pursuits.

The management, staff and students of St Lawrence English Medium School congratulated all the winners and their mentors, wishing the volleyball teams success at the upcoming district-level competition.
