Udupi, Sep 11: Trinity Central School celebrated Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm and heartfelt gratitude, honouring the dedicated teachers who play a vital role in shaping the lives and futures of their students.
The programme commenced with a gracious welcome to the principal Fr Dominic Lobo, vice principal Fr Amar Anthony Lobo, the superior and guardian of Trinity Vihar Fr Manohar Marvin D’Souza, co-ordinator, section heads and the teachers, followed by a prayer presented by the school choir, invoking God’s blessings for the celebration. The formal welcome was delivered by Aisha Daniya of grade 9, setting the tone for a meaningful and memorable occasion.
As a mark of respect to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is observed as Teachers’ Day in India, the principal, vice principal, guardian, academic coordinator and section heads offered floral tributes to his portrait. The Teachers’ Pledge was subsequently administered by the principal, with all the teachers reaffirming their commitment to the noble profession of teaching.
The celebration then unfolded with a series of entertaining and meaningful performances. A vibrant dance performance added energy and colour to the occasion, followed by an insightful speech by Seana D’Lima, who highlighted the significance of Teachers’ Day and the life and contributions of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
The school choir presented a melodious tribute to the teachers, expressing through music the love, admiration and gratitude that students hold for their mentors.
One of the highlights of the celebration was a humorous and thought-provoking skit by the students of grade 7, titled 'The Need for Teachers in the Age of AI'. The skit conveyed the powerful message that while technology can provide information, teachers bring empathy, encouragement, wisdom and transformation to the learning journey.
The entertainment continued with a captivating orchestra performance, which filled the atmosphere with music and received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
The celebration also featured an inspiring address by Fr Manohar Marvin D’Souza, followed by the principal’s address. In his address, the principal expressed appreciation for the commitment and dedication of the teaching fraternity and encouraged everyone to continue nurturing young minds with patience, compassion and purpose.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Ramona of grade 9, expressing gratitude to the management, principal, teachers, students and everyone who contributed to making the celebration a memorable one.
The programme was beautifully compared by Shiza Noor and Aman Naik of grade 9.
