Kathmandu, Sep 4: Two workers trapped inside tunnels at a hydropower project in Nepal were rescued on Friday, more than a week after catastrophic floods buried the tunnels under debris, government ministers said.
Energy Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha confirmed that one worker was safely rescued from a tunnel at the Trishuli 3A hydropower project.
A second worker was rescued shortly afterwards, Home Minister Sudan Gurung said in a statement.
“We have just received news that another person has also been rescued,” Gurung said.
The rescue comes more than a week after severe flooding caused widespread destruction in parts of Nepal, leaving workers trapped inside the hydropower project tunnels.
