New Delhi, Sep 3: State Bank of India (SBI) has announced a temporary interruption in its UPI services on September 4, 2026, due to scheduled maintenance.

According to the bank, SBI UPI services will be unavailable for 45 minutes, from 12:15 am to 1 am on September 4. The maintenance activity may, however, be completed earlier than scheduled.

During this period, UPI payments made from SBI accounts through platforms such as Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm and the YONO app may be affected.

SBI has advised customers to use UPI Lite during the maintenance window, as the service will continue to remain available without interruption. UPI Lite allows users to make small-value transactions without entering a UPI PIN.

Customers can make transactions of up to Rs 1,000 through UPI Lite, while the maximum wallet balance is capped at Rs 5,000.

The bank has apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused by the scheduled maintenance.

SBI allows a maximum of 20 person-to-person UPI transactions per day, while the overall daily transaction limit is Rs 1 lakh. The limit is up to Rs 2 lakh for certain categories such as insurance and capital market transactions and up to Rs 5 lakh for IPOs, tax payments, hospitals and educational institutions.

SBI customers can also link the same Virtual Payment Address (VPA) to multiple accounts, while a maximum of three VPAs can be created through the app.
