Puttur, Sep 1: Machinery at a plastic industry and electrical household appliances at the residence of S M Mohammed Rafiq of 34th Nekkilady were reportedly damaged after a high-voltage surge entered the power supply, causing losses estimated at more than Rs 8 lac.
Rafiq has alleged that the damage occurred due to a fault in the electricity supply and has urged MESCOM to provide appropriate compensation for the losses incurred.

He said complaints regarding the damage were made over the phone to the assistant engineer (AE) of Uppinangady MESCOM, the assistant executive engineer (AEE) of Puttur MESCOM and the superintending engineer of Mangaluru MESCOM.
However, Rafiq alleged that despite being informed about the incident, the officials have neither visited the site nor conducted an inspection or prepared a mahazar to assess the extent of the damage.
In a petition submitted to senior MESCOM officials, he urged the authorities to conduct an appropriate investigation and provide compensation for the losses caused by the power supply fault.
