Dholpur, Aug 30: In a tragic incident in Rajasthan's Dholpur district, three sisters drowned while attempting to save their brother after he fell into a deep pond on Sunday morning. All four members of the family died in the incident.

The tragedy occurred in Dhaundh Birja village under the Angai police station area of Dholpur district, leaving the entire village shocked and the family in deep grief.

The family had arrived near the village to visit the Hiraman Baba Temple, a local folk deity, on the occasion of Dauj, a festival observed after Raksha Bandhan.

According to officials, the three sisters had gone to the temple to offer prayers while their brother went to a nearby pond to take a bath.

When the sisters could no longer see their brother and realised that he was in the water, they rushed towards the pond and found him drowning. In an attempt to rescue him, all three entered the pond but were also swept into the deep water.

The brother and the three women drowned due to the depth and high water level in the pond.

The brother was identified as 23-year-old Bholu alias Ravi, a resident of Nathua Pura. Officials said he was near the pond and was taking a selfie on his mobile phone when he suddenly lost his footing and fell into the deep water.

After seeing Bholu struggling, his sisters Manorama and Boto, along with their cousin Nisha, immediately jumped into the pond to rescue him. However, all three drowned due to the depth and high water level.

As news of the incident spread, a large number of villagers gathered at the spot and informed police.

With the assistance of local divers and personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police recovered all four bodies from the pond.

The bodies were taken to the government hospital in Sarmathura, where postmortems were conducted in the presence of family members.

After completion of the postmortem procedures, the bodies were handed over to their respective families.

Those who died in the incident were identified as 30-year-old Manorama of Mauhari Tajpur, 36-year-old Boto of Ramratan Ka Pura, 21-year-old Nisha of Nathua Pura, and 23-year-old Bholu alias Ravi of Nathua Pura.
