Porvorim, Aug 24: Porvorim Police have registered a case of alleged cheating involving Rs 47 lakh after a resident of Kaskarwaddo complained that a woman had collected money from him and others by allegedly promising to provide plots and flats in Goa.
According to the complaint filed by Santosh Valvoikar, the alleged offence took place before June 30, 2026. The accused, identified as Kajal Prakash Nanoskar, 25, allegedly induced Valvoikar and others by making promises of providing plots and flats in Goa.
Nanoskar allegedly collected Rs 47 lakh from the complainant and others and subsequently misappropriated the money, according to the complaint.

Porvorim Police have registered an offence under Section 318(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which relates to cheating involving dishonest inducement and delivery of property.
Nanoskar has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
The case was reported by The Goan in its Aug 24 edition, confirming the accused's identity, the amount involved, the nature of the alleged property promise and the police action.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Vignesh Naik.
Police are expected to examine the financial transactions and circumstances surrounding the alleged collection of money as part of the ongoing investigation. The allegations are subject to investigation and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
