Siolim, Aug 17: The Village Panchayat and Village Panchayat Child Committee of Siolim-Marna felicitated SSCE and HSSCE toppers and sportspersons for their achievements as part of the Independence Day celebrations.

The achievers were presented with mementoes and cash prizes of Rs 1,000 each.

Students of Keerti Vidyalaya, St Francis Xavier's High School and tiny tots of St Francis de Sales presented patriotic songs as part of the celebrations.

Students of St Francis Xavier's High School also staged a skit highlighting the importance of solid waste management. The panchayat presented dustbins to the students following the performance.

Deputy Sarpanch Sandesh Hadfadkar hoisted the Tricolour. In his welcome address, he highlighted the significance of Independence Day and stressed the importance of hard work and discipline.

Hadfadkar urged students to contribute towards keeping their surroundings clean and green and work towards making Siolim a clean and green village.
