New Delhi, Aug 8: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Friday launched an online petition urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to use his Independence Day address to speak directly to India’s youth on issues concerning education, unemployment and the rising cost of living.
“This Independence Day, we want the Prime Minister to address India’s youth,” Dipke said in a post on X while sharing the petition.
“We request the PM to explain what the government is doing for youth regarding education, unemployment, and the cost of living,” he said, urging people to sign the petition.
The appeal comes weeks after the CJP spearheaded a 36-day agitation at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and wider concerns over the education system.
The protest drew students and supporters from across the country. It ended after the Centre agreed to consider the organisation’s five-point charter for examination reforms and assured that no cases would be filed against the protesters.
The agitation also culminated in the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on July 25.
At its National Working Committee meeting held in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on August 5 and 6, the CJP announced the “Kya Bolti Public” National Listening Tour and Education Reform Campaign, which is scheduled to begin on September 1.
Under the initiative, CJP leaders will travel across the country and interact with young people to gather their views for a citizen-driven Youth Reform Charter.
The proposed charter will focus on comprehensive education reforms, linking education with employment, institutional accountability and building alliances with political parties, student organisations, civil society groups and social movements.
The organisation has also launched a nationwide membership drive targeting students, young professionals and workers.
The CJP has maintained that it will continue to function as an independent public pressure group and will not enter electoral politics.
