Trai revamps MyCall app with call ratings, feedback features

New Delhi, Aug 3: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Monday launched a revamped version of its MyCall mobile application, introducing several new features, including instant voice call ratings, call drop reporting and automatic post-call feedback prompts to strengthen consumer participation in monitoring telecom service quality.

The upgraded application allows users to rate voice calls on a one-to-five-star scale, report call drops and other network-related issues, and provide feedback immediately after a call. The app is designed to monitor both Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE).

Launching the updated application, Trai Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti said consumer feedback would play a key role in improving telecom services across the country.

"The application also offers features that enable consumers to view their feedback history and undertake coverage tests. These insights will provide useful inputs to telecom service providers for undertaking targeted network optimisation, thereby enabling improvement in the calling experience for consumers. The information collected through the application will enable Trai to supplement its quality of service monitoring framework with real-world consumer feedback," Lahoti said.

The MyCall app has undergone its first comprehensive upgrade since its launch in 2018 and is currently available for Android users.

One of the key additions is the ability to share consumer feedback directly with telecom service providers, a feature that was not available in the earlier version. Officials said the revamp was also necessitated by advancements in mobile networks and smartphone technologies.

According to Lahoti, direct consumer feedback will help telecom operators identify network deficiencies, take corrective measures, enhance customer satisfaction and improve the overall mobile calling experience.

The launch follows the introduction of upgraded versions of Trai's Do Not Disturb (DND) and MySpeed applications earlier this year.

The revamped DND app features a simplified user interface, multilingual support, faster complaint registration, improved preference management and enhanced compatibility with dual-SIM smartphones. It also supports the implementation of the 1600 number series for financial service providers, enabling users to view the sender's name within the app. Complaints lodged through the DND application are forwarded directly to telecom operators through API integration.

Trai said the upgraded suite of applications is aimed at strengthening consumer engagement, improving service quality and enabling telecom companies to respond more effectively to real-world network issues reported by users.
