Media Release

Mumbai, Jul 30: Hungama OTT recently premiered its latest original series ‘Service Girl’, a gripping crime thriller that explores the devastating consequences of deepfakes and online identity theft. Tackling one of today's most pressing digital threats, the series highlights how the misuse of artificial intelligence can shatter lives, reputations, and relationships.

At the heart of the story is Divya, a young woman from a conservative town whose life is shattered when an explicit deepfake video featuring her face goes viral. Overnight, she loses her marriage, her reputation, and the trust of those closest to her, becoming a victim not only of cybercrime but also of societal judgment. Refusing to let shame define her, Divya embarks on a determined quest to uncover the truth behind the fabricated video. As she delves deeper, she uncovers a larger cybercrime racket that exploits and extorts women through manipulated identities. Her fight evolves from clearing her own name to exposing the dark reality of digital abuse, proving that while artificial intelligence has the power to transform lives, its misuse can destroy them just as quickly.

Adding intrigue to the narrative is Kangna, played by Mallobika Banerjii, a bold and ambitious model who dreams of becoming an actor. Fearless and determined, Kangna crosses paths with Divya in Mumbai and becomes one of her strongest allies in uncovering the cybercriminal network responsible for destroying her life. As the investigation unfolds, Kangna's courage and resilience become instrumental in exposing the truth.

Speaking about her character, Mallobika Banerjii said, "Kangna is bold, fearless and someone who refuses to stay silent in the face of injustice. She dreams of making it big as an actor, but when she meets Divya, her priorities change as she becomes determined to help uncover the truth behind cybercrime. What I love most about Service Girl is that it reflects a hidden side of the internet that exists in real life. Every day, innocent people become victims of online manipulation and fake content. I hope this series encourages audiences to be more aware and empathetic towards victims of such crimes. Personally, I relate to Kangna's fearless spirit because I have always believed in standing up for what is right, no matter how difficult the situation."

Leading the series is Khushi Dubey as Divya, who is emotionally charged performance anchors the story. Speaking about her role, Khushi Dubey shared, "I play the role of Divya, a simple girl who gets married at an early age whose life is turned upside down by cybercrime. Using deepfake, someone creates a fake, bold version of her, which damages her reputation in society. No one believes her when she says that it isn't really her. We often hear about such incidents in the news, and sadly, many young women have even taken their own lives because of these horrific cybercrimes. It is a very serious issue. This web series sheds light on this sensitive subject and shows how my character fights back and overcomes this ordeal.”

The series also features Nishad Vaidya in the role of Jackie Bhaiya, said, I play the character of Jacky, whom everyone calls ‘Jacky Bhai.’ He is the mastermind behind an internet-based live cam service business, which is a very unusual and unconventional business in the online world. Through this business and a cybercrime operation, Divya (Khushi Dubey) gets trapped. The story then follows how she exposes this illegal business and fights her way out of the cybercrime network. My character is very challenging because I had to speak with a stammer throughout the role. I practiced extensively to portray it authentically. I hope the audience enjoys my performance and appreciates the character.”

Sharing his experience of playing another antagonist, Jahangir Khan said, "Playing a dark character was a truly special experience for me. The character was challenging because he's layered and complex, serving as Jacky Bhaiya's trusted ally in this unconventional online business. While I would never support or endorse such illegal activities in real life, portraying a negative character like this is always fascinating as an actor. It pushes me to explore different shades of human nature and step out of my comfort zone.”

Blending suspense, emotion, and social relevance, Service Girl shines a light on the growing menace of deepfake cybercrime and the emotional toll it takes on victims. The series delivers a powerful message about resilience, justice, and the urgent need for greater digital awareness in an increasingly technology-driven world. the series will also be available on Tata Play Binge, Watcho, BSNL, PlayboxTV, RailWire Broadband, Airtel Xstream Play and Dor TV.
