New Delhi, Jul 29: Delhi Police has approached social media platform X (formerly Twitter) seeking the removal of posts allegedly containing "derogatory, malicious and defamatory" content targeting constitutional authorities, as part of its ongoing investigation into the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) protest over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak.

In a notice issued to X, the police requested the immediate removal of the identified posts and videos, stating that the content was linked to an ongoing investigation.

The police have also sought details of the account holders who uploaded the alleged content, including their names, addresses, contact details, email IDs and account activity records such as login and logout details with timestamps.

Authorities have further asked the platform to preserve all relevant data related to the posts or videos for investigation and possible legal proceedings. The notice also seeks additional information from X that may assist the probe, along with a certificate under Section 63(4) of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) concerning electronic records.

The move comes after the CJP’s July 20 protest at Jantar Mantar over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak, which led to political controversy and widespread discussions across the country.

Earlier, reports stated that Delhi Police was examining social media posts made during and after the protest and was considering action against content allegedly found to be "objectionable" and "abusive" towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders.

Police sources said authorities were reviewing online content to determine whether any posts violated legal provisions or had the potential to disturb public order.

The Delhi Police Social Media Monitoring Team has been tracking posts related to the protest and identifying content requiring further scrutiny as part of the investigation.
