Mumbai, Jul 25: Content creator Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, became emotional while speaking about fellow influencer Sufi Motiwala on Netflix's reality show Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, saying his support helped her get through one of the darkest phases of her life following the India's Got Latent controversy.
Apoorva entered the show as an informer for a week, with many expecting a confrontation with Sufi due to their past differences. However, the two reconciled during a recent episode and reflected on their friendship.
Recalling the difficult period after the India's Got Latent controversy in 2025, Apoorva said Sufi had stood by her when she had no one else.

"I have really missed you. Every time someone asks me about you and says, 'How were you friends with him? He's so mean,' I tell them, 'I would've killed myself if, at the time of the Latent fiasco, I hadn't had Sufi,'" she said.
Sufi responded by asking her not to say that and shared that the year they were friends had been one of the happiest periods of his life.
"I finally felt like I had a social circle in Bombay. I felt like there was someone I could go to whenever I wanted. I genuinely missed you a lot," he said.
Apoorva reiterated that Sufi's support had been invaluable during the controversy.
"I wouldn't have been able to get through that. You were the only person with me. I wasn't dating anyone. As a friend, I have always given you credit. You saved my life. I genuinely wouldn't have been able to survive Latent if it wasn't for you," she added.
The two had previously appeared together on Karan Johar's reality show The Traitors but later had a public fallout. Following their rift, Sufi wrote on Instagram that he had distanced himself because he wanted a genuine friendship with Apoorva rather than her online persona and felt there was no accountability in how he was being treated.
The India's Got Latent controversy erupted in 2025 after podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia made offensive remarks during an episode of Samay Raina's show. The incident triggered widespread backlash, and FIRs were registered against several participants, including Apoorva.
Apoorva later revealed that she had received death and rape threats on social media in the aftermath of the controversy.
