Bengaluru, Jul 24: Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has increased the prices of its popular Nandini brand butter and ghee, with the revised rates coming into effect immediately across the state.
The price of Nandini ghee has been increased by Rs 15 per kg, while butter has become costlier by Rs 22 per kg. The revised prices are applicable at all KMF outlets from Friday.
The price hike is expected to impact not only households but also hotels, bakeries and sweet manufacturers, who depend heavily on butter and ghee for food preparation.

Justifying the increase, KMF said rising operational expenses of milk unions, higher packaging costs and increased transportation charges had made the revision unavoidable. It maintained that Nandini products continue to remain competitively priced compared to private brands.
The decision has drawn criticism from consumers, as it comes ahead of the festive season, including Varamahalakshmi festival, when demand for dairy products typically rises.
Under the revised rates, a 500 ml ghee sachet will cost Rs 358, while a one-litre sachet is priced at Rs 715. A 500 ml PET jar of ghee will cost Rs 368 and the one-litre PET jar Rs 735. A one-litre ghee tin has been priced at Rs 750.
Among butter products, a 100 gm salted butter pack will now cost Rs 70, the 500 gm salted butter Rs 310, the 200 gm unsalted butter Rs 135 and the 500 gm unsalted butter Rs 330.
The price revision is expected to add to household expenses and increase input costs for the food and hospitality sectors.
