Kasargod, Jul 21: A one-year-old boy sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a stray dog while playing in the courtyard of his house at Jodukallu Kallane near Uppala in Kasargod district.
The injured child has been identified as Rithraj, son of Guruprasad Acharya and Tulasi. He has been admitted to the Kasargod General Hospital for treatment.
According to reports, the incident occurred while the child's mother was outside the house hanging washed clothes to dry. The toddler was playing in the yard when a stray dog entered the premises and suddenly attacked him.

The child suffered severe injuries to his face before his mother rushed to his rescue and drove the animal away. He was immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
In a separate incident in the same locality, a stray dog also attacked and injured a cow and its calf belonging to Chandrashekhar Shetty, which had been tethered in a nearby grazing field.
The repeated stray dog attacks have triggered concern among local residents, who have urged the authorities to take immediate measures to curb the stray dog menace in the area.
