New Delhi, Jul 20: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Sunday chaired a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament and appealed to all political parties to cooperate in ensuring smooth and productive proceedings.

Birla urged members to facilitate orderly discussions so that issues concerning the public could be debated comprehensively and constructively. He also stressed the importance of meaningful participation and upholding the highest parliamentary traditions.

During the meeting, members from both the Treasury and Opposition benches exchanged views on the legislative agenda and other business proposed for the session.

According to sources, members also suggested several issues of national importance and public concern for discussion during the Monsoon Session.

Expressing confidence in the House, Birla said he hoped all members would work collectively to ensure a productive and dignified session in the larger public interest.

The Business Advisory Committee also allocated time for discussion on key legislations scheduled to be introduced or taken up during the session.

According to sources, the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026, the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2025 have each been allotted four hours for debate in the Lok Sabha.

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026 has been allocated five hours for discussion, making it the legislation with the longest scheduled debate among the listed bills.
