Astro Mohan's Kambala picture selected for prestigious PSA International Gallery Show in Sri Lanka

Udupi, Jul 8: Renowned international photojournalist Astro Mohan and senior news photographer has earned another international distinction with his photograph being selected for exhibition at the 2026 PSA International Print Gallery Show, Across Lands and Cultures, to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from July 10 to 12.

The exhibition is organised by the Photographic Society of America (PSA) Worldwide in association with the PSA Sri Lanka Membership Group. It will be hosted at the prestigious Harold Peiris Gallery, Lionel Wendt Art Centre, one of Sri Lanka’s foremost venues for art and photography.

This exhibition forms part of PSA Worldwide’s International Relationship vice president (IRVP) initiative, which promotes cultural exchange through photography by showcasing outstanding works by PSA members from across the globe.

Only 60 photographic prints by photographers from 20 countries have been selected for this prestigious international exhibition, making it one of PSA Worldwide’s distinguished gallery showcases. Astro Mohan is among the selected photographers representing India.

His exhibited photograph, titled ‘Kambala, India,’ captures the thrill, tradition, and cultural richness of Karnataka’s iconic buffalo race. Through its dynamic composition and compelling visual storytelling, the image portrays the enduring spirit of India’s living heritage and has been chosen to represent the country’s vibrant culture before an international audience.

In recognition of his participation, the Photographic Society of America Worldwide has awarded Astro Mohan an official certificate of participation, acknowledging his contribution to this prestigious international exhibition.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on July 10. under the theme ‘Across Lands and Cultures,’ celebrating creativity, cultural diversity, nature, and human stories through the universal language of photography. The exhibition is expected to attract photographers, artists, and photography enthusiasts from around the world.

Astro Mohan is among India’s accomplished international photojournalists, having received more than 90 international awards and secured over 1,400 acceptances in international photography salons across 32 countries. He holds several prestigious photographic distinctions, including PPSA, APSA, AFIAP, HON.FSWAN, HON.EUSPA, HON.FICS, HON.SAP, FIIPC, AFIP, ASOF, and APCA. He also serves as the assistant country membership director (India) of the Photographic Society of America and is a co-opted member of the Karnataka Lalit Kala Akademi.

Expressing his delight, Astro Mohan said it was a great honour to have his work selected for one of PSA Worldwide’s prestigious international gallery exhibitions. He noted that he was particularly pleased to see Kambala, the traditional buffalo race of coastal Karnataka, showcased on an international platform. He dedicated this recognition to the people of coastal Karnataka, whose rich traditions and vibrant culture continue to inspire his photographic journey.
