Udupi, Jun 29: Lions have completed 70 years in India, but these are not merely years - they represent pages of history. The organisation's strong foundational values have made it a powerful movement not only in India but also across the world. Being a Lion is not just about rendering service, it is also about personality development, said Lion Hariprasad Rai, first vice district governor of District 317C.
He was speaking as the installing officer at the installation ceremony of the eighth executive committee of the Lions Club Udyavara Sunshine.




Wilson Fernandes, proprietors of the Fernandes Group, said that employment opportunities in Arab countries are declining due to war-related uncertainties, while Europe offers abundant job prospects. He encouraged youngsters to make the most of these opportunities and assured them of his support.
Region chairperson Lion Divakar Sanil appreciated the social initiatives undertaken by the Lions Club Udyavara Sunshine and extended his best wishes.
Lion Royce Fernandes was installed as the president for the 2026–27 term, along with the new executive committee. On the occasion, secretary Lion Edwin Lewis presented the annual report of the previous year. The newly elected committee also handed over various social service initiatives to the concerned beneficiaries.
Vice president Lion Wilfred D'Souza welcomed the gathering, while secretary Lion John Prashanth Gomes proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Lion Anil Menezes and Lion Ritesh D'Souza.
Founder president Lion Henry D'Souza, immediate past president Lion Ronald Rebello, and immediate past treasurer Lion Alwyn D'Souza were present on the dais. In the absence of immediate past president Lion Gerald Pereira, his message was conveyed to the gathering by the vice president. Four new members were also inducted into the club during the ceremony.
