Chennai Metro staff rush passenger to hospital after medical emergency

Chennai, Jun 29: A 43-year-old passenger was rushed to a hospital after experiencing a medical emergency while travelling in Chennai Metro Rail on Sunday.

The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) said the passenger, identified as Arumugam, fell ill while travelling from Guindy Metro station.

According to CMRL, when the train reached Saidapet Metro station, station staff immediately attended to him, provided first aid and arranged emergency medical assistance.

"The passenger was subsequently shifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment," CMRL said in an official statement.

Meanwhile, a polio immunisation campaign was conducted at several Metro stations across Chennai on Sunday until 5 pm.

The vaccination drive was organised at Tollgate, Vadapalani, New Washermenpet, Thiyagaraya College, Arignar Anna Alandur, Wimco Nagar, Washermenpet, High Court and Egmore Metro stations.

CMRL encouraged parents and guardians travelling with children in the eligible age group to utilise the facility and ensure timely polio vaccination.
