No One Will Be Spared': Yogi Adityanath on Ayodhya Ram Temple Donation Row

Nagendra Acharya, New Delhi

Lucknow, June 26, 2026: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday asserted that the state government has initiated action against those accused of allegedly embezzling donations received at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, following the submission of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) report.

Addressing a public gathering in Deoria, the Chief Minister reaffirmed his government's commitment to protecting public faith and ensuring accountability, stating that no individual found guilty would be spared, irrespective of their position.

Referring to his earlier announcement made in Ayodhya on June 19 regarding the constitution of the SIT, Adityanath said the government had acted promptly after receiving the investigation report.

"Ayodhya is a symbol of the faith of all of us and of Sanatan Dharma. Do not cast an evil eye on Ayodhya. Learn to uphold the dignity of Lord Ram. We had said an SIT had been constituted and that action would begin as soon as its report was received," the Chief Minister said.

He added that the investigation would be impartial and transparent.

"The SIT report came and action started immediately. I assure you that, as I had said, we will separate truth from falsehood," he said.

'Playing With Public Faith Is Unacceptable'

Taking a firm stand on the issue, Adityanath warned that any attempt to misuse or misappropriate funds donated by devotees would invite stringent legal action.

"Playing with public sentiment is unacceptable. Whoever tampers with the faith of Sanatan Dharma will have to face the consequences. No one can be given any exemption," he said.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the sanctity of Ayodhya and the trust reposed by millions of devotees in the Ram Temple must be protected at all costs.

Background

The alleged irregularities involve donations received at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Following reports of possible financial misappropriation, the Uttar Pradesh government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to examine the allegations.

After the SIT submitted its findings, the government initiated action against those allegedly involved. Authorities have maintained that the investigation will continue and that responsibility will be fixed based on evidence.

The Ram Temple, inaugurated earlier this year after decades of legal and political developments, is regarded as one of India's most significant religious landmarks, attracting millions of devotees and substantial donations from across the country.

Investigation Continues

While action has begun following the SIT report, officials have indicated that further investigations and legal proceedings are expected as authorities scrutinize financial records and identify those responsible.

The Uttar Pradesh government has reiterated that maintaining transparency in the management of temple donations is essential to preserving public confidence and protecting the religious sentiments of devotees.
