New Delhi, Jun 12: Security agencies swiftly launched an investigation after a stone was thrown at the Lucknow-New Delhi Swarn Shatabdi Express on Thursday evening while RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was travelling on board. The incident resulted in damage to a coach window, though no passenger was injured.
Acting on CCTV footage and local intelligence, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Uttar Pradesh Police conducted a joint operation and detained two suspects believed to be rag-pickers.

The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. as the train was passing through the Firozabad area under the Prayagraj railway division. A stone struck the windowpane of the AC First Class E-1 coach after the train had crossed Makkhanpur station.
Railways Additional Director General S.K. Bhagwat said the stone hit the coach carrying passengers, including the RSS chief, but fortunately caused no injuries.
According to railway officials, the stone damaged the window near seat number 54 in the AC First Class compartment. Apart from the broken glass, no harm was caused to passengers or the train's interior.
As a precaution, additional RPF personnel were deployed when the train reached Tundla station. A case was subsequently registered under Section 152 of the Railways Act based on a complaint filed by RPF officials.
Investigators traced the suspects after reviewing CCTV footage from the area. One of the detained individuals was allegedly seen throwing a stone towards the passing train.
Police and railway authorities are continuing their probe to determine whether the act was a case of mischief or if there was any larger motive behind the incident.
