Udupi, Jun 12: Tamil Nadu chief minister (CM) Joseph Vijay arrived in the coastal region on Friday amid tight security arrangements for his visit to the famed Kollur Mookambika Temple.

According to the original schedule, Vijay was expected to arrive in Udupi and proceed to private hotel near the Karavali Bypass, where he was to freshen up before continuing his journey to Kollur. However, owing to time constraints, the CM altered his itinerary and travelled directly to Kollur from Mangaluru Airport.

The change in plans disappointed several fans and supporters who had gathered at a private hotel and along the route in the hope of meeting the Tamil Nadu CM and catching a glimpse of him.

Joseph Vijay is scheduled to offer special prayers at the Kollur Mookambika Temple, one of the most revered pilgrimage centers in the region, attracting devotees from across the country.

Meanwhile, police and security personnel made elaborate arrangements along the travel route and at Kollur to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the CM's visit. Security was heightened in and around the temple town in view of the high-profile visit.

Despite the last-minute change in schedule, a large number of supporters and members of the public turned up to welcome the Tamil Nadu CM during his visit to the district.
