Relative arrested in rape case registered on Dharmasthala woman's complaint

Beltangady, Jun 10: Dharmasthala police have arrested a man in connection with an alleged rape case registered based on a complaint filed by a woman from the Dharmasthala police station limits.

According to a press release, the survivor stated in her complaint lodged on June 7 that the accused, identified as Suresh, a relative, had allegedly sexually assaulted her at her residence in 2023 when she was alone at home during the night. He had also allegedly threatened her with dire consequences.

Based on the complaint, Dharmasthala police registered a case under Crime No. 41/2026 under Sections 376 and 506 of the IPC.

Following investigation, the accused was taken into custody and produced before the court on June 9. The court remanded him to judicial custody.
