Mangaluru, Jun 8: The Barke police have registered an FIR against a Facebook user operating under the name 'Anitha Kasargod' for allegedly posting a highly derogatory and provocative video aimed at the Billava, Shetty, and Bunt communities.

The police action follows a formal complaint lodged by Rakesh, the president of the Mangaluru unit of Biruver Kudla.

According to the complaint, Rakesh came across the controversial video on Facebook at around 5:30 pm on Monday, June 8, while he was near the KSRTC bus stand in the city. In the video, the woman is purportedly heard using highly abusive and offensive language against Hindus, specifically singling out the Poojary, Billava, and Shetty communities.

The complaint details that the woman compared these communities unfavorably to other religious groups and openly challenged them. She allegedly stated she was fighting a lone battle against the "B gang, D gang," and the aforementioned communities, using expletives to provoke them.

Rakesh accused the woman of attempting to incite communal hatred, disturb public peace, and provoke enmity between different groups through her inflammatory social media post. He urged the police to take strict legal action against the account holder for creating a socially disruptive and instigating environment.

Based on the complaint, the Barke police have registered a case (Crime No. 58/2026) under sections 196, 352, and 357(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigations are underway.
