Udupi district activates emergency control rooms ahead of monsoon season

Udupi, Jun 5: With the onset of the southwest monsoon, the Udupi district administration has established a network of emergency control rooms across the district to ensure a swift response to any natural calamities or rain-related emergencies.

The public has been urged to immediately report incidents such as flooding, landslides, fallen trees, property damage, or any other emergency situation through the designated helpline numbers.

A central District Control Room has been set up at the deputy commissioner’s office and can be contacted on 0820-2574802 or the toll-free number 1077.

Control rooms have also been activated at the offices of the respective taluk tehsildars:

• Udupi: 0820-2520417

• Kundapur: 08254-230357

• Karkala: 08258-230201

• Byndoor: 08254-251657

• Brahmavar: 0820-2560494

• Kaup: 0820-2551444

• Hebri: 08253-250201

Additionally, emergency contact facilities have been established at various urban local bodies:

The district administration has appealed to residents to remain vigilant during periods of heavy rainfall and make use of the emergency helplines whenever assistance is required.

Authorities said all concerned departments have been placed on alert to handle any monsoon-related contingencies effectively.
