Kohli likely to miss Afghanistan ODI series due to injury

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi

New Delhi, Jun 4: India's star batter Virat Kohli is reportedly set to miss the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan due to a hamstring injury, dealing a significant blow to the hosts ahead of the three-match contest.

According to reports, Kohli is currently recovering from the injury and is unlikely to feature in the ODI series scheduled to begin on Jun 13 in Dharamsala.

The second ODI is slated to be played in Lucknow on Jun 17, while the third and final match will take place in Chennai on Jun 20.

The injury has also raised concerns over Kohli's availability for India's crucial ODI tour of England, which is scheduled to begin on Jul 14.

Kohli's absence could create a major challenge for the Indian team, particularly as the availability of former captain Rohit Sharma also remains uncertain. Rohit is reportedly recovering from an injury sustained during the 2026 IPL season.

If both senior batters are unavailable, India may be forced to field a relatively inexperienced top order against Afghanistan and could face further selection concerns ahead of the England series.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to make an official announcement regarding Kohli's fitness status or his participation in the upcoming fixtures. However, team management is expected to closely monitor his recovery before taking a final call on his return to international action.
